Description

On August 13, 1965, The Beatles flew from London and landed at J.F.K. Airport in New York, coming to America to start their 1965 U.S. Tour. They landed at 2:30 P.M. and were very shortly thereafter driven to The Warwick Hotel in Manhattan. Their chauffeur who drove for them that day was able to get their autographs, on the top lid of a Bloomingdale’s cardboard box top. The box contained an anniversary gift of a necklace for his wife Theresa that he purchased from the Bloomingdale’s Flagship store in Manhattan that morning. The added signatures of The Beatles were the icing on the cake of her anniversary present. All four have autographed this 5 1/4″ x 4″ Bloomingdale’s box top beautifully in blue ballpoint pen, with Paul McCartney adding “Happy Anniversary To Theresa, From The Beatles xxxx”and also “CONGRATULATIONS!”. Ringo has added “xxx” after his signature. The following day they appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show for the fourth and very last time. One day later, The Beatles performed live in concert at the Iconic and Historic record-breaking Shea Stadium Concert – playing live before 55,600 fans.
This is a great crossover piece for fans of luxury shopping who love The Beatles. Autograph sets obtained in the U.S. from the year 1965 are extremely scarce and desirable and this one is very reasonably priced.
