Description
The Beatles had planned to embark on a World Tour in June of 1964, and on the first leg of this tour, they would be playing shows in Denmark, The Netherlands, British Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand and then back to Australia. But they encountered a huge problem in the form of tonsillitis – which hit Ringo who was hospitalized the day before the tour was to commence. The Beatles had to scramble and come up with a suitable drummer, and they did, seasoned session drummer Jimmie Nicol – who filled in for Ringo between June 4th and June 13th. Ringo’s first show back was on June 15th, in Melbourne, Australia.
This Qantas Airlines postcard, which measures 5 1/2″ x 3 1/3″, features a color shot of a Qantas Boeing 707 V-Jet in flight on the front. It was autographed on the back by The Beatles in June of 1964, very shortly after Ringo’s return. All four have autographed beautifully in blue ballpoint pen and this is a great set of mid-1964 Beatles autographs.
